Australia 19-24 Scotland, Allianz Stadium
Scorecard

Finn Russell contributed with 11 points as Scotland overcame a double from Israel Folau to secure a 19-24 win over Australia at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

Fullback Greig Tonks got Scotland off the mark with a third minute penalty. Bernard Foley had a chance to level the scores but he missed out on a three pointer early on, much to the delight of the Dark Blues.

The first try of the game through Duncan Taylor, who crossed over in the 14th minute and Russell's conversion made it 0-10 in favour of Scotland. Wallabies finally got points on the board with first of the two tries from Folau in the 19th minute but they suffered a setback when Foley was sin binned four minutes latter.

With Australia being one man down temporarily, Russell capitalised on the advantage as he scored a converted try in the 26th minute to restore the 10 points lead for Gregor Townsend's men. But, Folau looked relentless and danced past the post at the stroke of half time following a sin bin to Ryan Wilson as Australia went into half time trailing by five points.

Australia got into lead for the first time in the game with Will Genia's try that came in the 56th minute followed by a conversion from Foley. At the end of the third quarter, Michael Cheika's men had a slender two point lead.

However, Hamish Watson's decisive try in the 61st minute followed by extras from Russell ensured Scotland completed a five point win which is also their 10th against Australia in 31 games.
