Newcastle Red Bulls have confirmed that Exeter Chiefs forward Rusi Tuima will join the club on a two-year deal ahead of the new season.
The 6ft 5in forward, who can operate in the second row or back row, has been a regular figure for Exeter Chiefs since coming through the club’s academy system.
Tuima has made more than 70 senior appearances for the Devon side, scoring 20 tries across his time in the Gallagher PREM and European competition.
Born in Fiji and raised in England from a young age, Tuima has represented England at Under-18, Under-20 and England A level, underlining his steady progression through the national pathway.
Tuima said he is excited by the direction Newcastle Red Bulls are heading in and is looking forward to contributing to what he described as an ambitious project.
“I’m hugely excited to rip into what the Newcastle Red Bulls have already started building. It’s such an exciting project. Newcastle is always a tough place to come and play, so I’m looking forward to adding to that.
“Whilst I’m looking forward to calling Newcastle home and getting stuck in at Kingston Park, I’m also incredibly grateful to the Exeter Chiefs players, coaches and supporters for providing the amazing opportunities to represent my boyhood club – memories that I and my family will cherish forever.”
