Newcastle Red Bulls have confirmed that Ethan Grayson has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club for at least the next two seasons.

The 23-year-old has made 18 appearances since arriving on Tyneside in September 2024. Grayson spent the latter part of last season in the United States completing his commitments with San Diego Legion in Major League Rugby before returning to Newcastle ahead of the current campaign.

A former Northampton Saints and Bedford Blues player, Grayson has contributed two tries and 33 points during his time with the Red Bulls.

One of his standout moments came last season when he kicked the club’s first drop-goal in more than 11 years during a home victory over Exeter Chiefs.

Capable of covering full-back, centre and fly-half, Grayson said he was eager to extend his stay, citing the positive environment created by the club’s new ownership and ongoing improvements both on and off the field.

“I’ve loved my time up here and was always keen to extend it, so it’s great to have it sorted.

“It’s a really exciting time to be involved at the club with everything going on under the new ownership – not just on the playing side, but all the improvements to the facilities and around the place in general.

“This is a club that’s really going places and it’s brilliant to have the contract sorted for another two years, but first and foremost it’s about the current season and taking care of what’s immediately in front of us.

“We’ve got a massive game at home to Gloucester and an unbeaten start to the Challenge Cup to build on, so that’s where all of my focus is.”
