Robbie Henshaw has committed his immediate future to Ireland and Leinster after signing a new deal at leastH until the end of June 2022.

The 25-year-old made his debut for Ireland in 2013 against USA in Houston and has gone to play 37 Tests in which he started in 34 games. Henshaw did feature for Ireland in three World Cup games during the 2015 edition and featured in the opening two games of Ireland's Grand Slam in Six Nations last year before an injury hampered his participation.

In November 2016, Henshaw scored the final and decisive try for Ireland in their first ever victory over All Blacks at Soldier Field and was also part of the British and Irish Lions squad during the 2017 tour of New Zealand.

"Robbie has established himself as a leader within this Ireland squad and has delivered consistent world-class performances which have helped to drive the sustained success enjoyed by the national team," said IRFU Performance Director David Nucifora.

"He has a hunger for improvement and in driving the standards of those around him.”

Henshaw started his domestic career with Connacht in 2012 and switched to Leinster in 2016 and has played for the Dublin club 30 times since then and enjoyed Champions Cup title and Pro14 success both coming in 2018.

"I am delighted to have signed a new three-year contract with the IRFU. It’s an exciting time to be part of Irish Rugby, and having tasted success with both Ireland and Leinster in recent seasons, I am eager to play a role in driving further success at both international and provincial level," said Henshaw.
