A decision on Eddie Jones' future with England is set to be made by the Rugby Football Union next week.

The England board had launched a review following the team's dismal performance in the recently concluded autumn internationals where they managed a solitary win from four matches. They also suffered a 29-30 defeat against Argentina at Twickenham Stadium and were booed also off last weekend when they were outplayed by the Springboks 13-27.

England also went on to win just five from their 13 matches this year having finished fifth in the Six Nations tournament but followed it with a series win over the Wallabies in Australia during the summer tour.

The review is set to conclude on Monday with the outcomes set to be decided during the board meeting on Tuesday.

With the top contenders for the England job including the likes of Andy Farrell, Shaun Edwards and Ronan O'Gara ruling themselves out and the World Cup scheduled next year in France, it is unlikely that there will be any major overhaul in the coaching set up.

Leicester director of rugby Steve Borthwick has been on the radar of the RFU following his success at the domestic level while Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson also had expressed his interest to take over the job to secure an international role.

“I’ve said it many times that the All Blacks is my preferred choice but if it didn’t work out that way, you know, England’s got so much potential, it’d be a pretty special job,” Robertson told iNews last month.

“There is potential to any international job, I’ll make that clear, because there’s a few coming up [after the 2023 World Cup]. My first choice is to be at home. And then what other potential, if it is England, Scotland or Australia or any other team that’s out there, you’ve got to look at it."
