North Dorset 7s returns to the 7s circuit again this summer looking to build on the success of the last two tournaments.

Held at North Dorset RFC (Gillingham, Dorset) the inaugural North Dorset 7s was held in 2013 to help fundraise for Cardiac Risk in the Young (C-R-Y). The charity itself is very close to the club’s heart after losing their 1st XV Captain, Max Biles, suddenly in 2009 at the age of 29. To date the tournament has fundraised nearly £5,000.

Last year saw teams such as The Clic Sargent Godfathers, Zoti Gun 7s and 7s Bamboo Rugby take part, with the Royal Navy Sharks walking away as eventual tournament winners defeating Bryanston Old Boys 7s 24-20 in the Palmer Snell Cup Final, despite trailing 15-0 at the interval. #TeamFish and 7s Bamboo Rugby were victorious Bowl and Plate winners respectively.

With the event now firmly established on the map, it returns on Saturday 25th July this year with the introduction of a women’s competition and the promise of another fantastic day of rugby and entertainment!! Again raising money for C-R-Y, 32 Men’s and Women’s teams will compete across a Men’s Open, Men’s Social and Women’s Cup with teams being able to enter for only £60 for squads of 12.

North Dorset 7s is delighted to be returning once more and hopes to be able to welcome along many new teams as well as seeing many familiar faces make their return.
