Ultimate Sevens has confirmed the calendar and venues for its inaugural 2026 Championship, with four events to be staged across Madrid, Cardiff, Biarritz and London this September.
Ultimate Sevens 2026 Calendar Confirmed
The new global rugby sevens competition will begin on Saturday, September 5 at Estadio Ontime Butarque in Leganés, Madrid.
The Championship will then move to Cardiff Arms Park on September 12 before heading to Parc des Sports Aguilera in Biarritz on September 18. The inaugural season will conclude at Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, London, on September 24.
Rugby Sevens Championship Venues Announced
Ultimate Sevens has selected venues across established rugby markets and major sporting cities as it looks to bring the format to both existing supporters and new audiences.
The competition will feature clubs, each with men’s and women’s teams, competing across short, high-intensity events. The format is designed to showcase the speed, space and attacking quality that make rugby sevens one of the sport’s most accessible versions.
Ultimate Sevens Targets Global Growth
Ultimate Sevens has already announced several leading players for its first season, including Australian star Maddi Levi, Spain’s Manu Moreno, Henry Hutchison and Abbie Brown.
Managing Director Barney Pascall said the inaugural calendar reflected a balance of rugby heritage and emerging markets. He added that the Championship was built around athletes, fans and a fresh live-event experience.
“The announcement of our inaugural season feels very special. These four cities give us an incredible balance of rugby heritage and emerging markets, each a platform to launch a Championship that is fast, global, inclusive and built around the athletes and fans that make sevens so special.
“Our ambition has always been to create something that elevates rugby sevens, celebrates the best players in the world and delivers a live experience that feels fresh, accessible and unforgettable. This September, that becomes real. The venues have been chosen carefully for their connection to the local communities and their ambition to deliver a first-class experience for fans"
The competition will also place men’s and women’s teams on the same stage, with organisers aiming to create a modern platform for elite sevens, digital storytelling and future player pathways.
