New Zealand have made eight changes to the starting line-up for the fifth round of the Rugby Championship clash against South Africa to be played at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Saturday.

Beauden Barrett returns at fly-half to take back the kicking responsibility from Damian McKenzie, who moves back to the bench while David Havili also makes a comeback at the expense of Quinn Tupaea.

The back row sees two changes with Luke Jacobson and Akira Ioane recalled replacing Hoskins Sotutu and Ethan Blackadder while Scott Barrett and Brodie Retallick have been the chosen locks.

Codie Taylor has been the preferred hooker with props Nepo Laulala and Joe Moody will line up as New Zealand will face South Africa for the 100th time in the history of the game.

“The whole team is excited at what lies ahead this weekend,” said New Zealand head coach Ian Foster.

“The group is working hard, we have been building our performances and we’ve put ourselves in a great position to win the Rugby Championship and that’s really exciting for the team.

“The fact that it is against South Africa is pretty special.”
