Munster reveal three-game pre-season ahead of 2025/26 URC campaign

As the 2025–26 United Rugby Championship season draws near, Munster Rugby has officially confirmed a trio of pre-season matches designed to sharpen the squad and introduce players to Clayton McMillan’s coaching philosophy before the campaign begins on September 27th.

Munster's warm-up schedule kicks off on Friday, August 22nd, with a trip to Biarritz Olympique at Stade Aguiléra, starting at 8 pm local time.

This fixture holds extra significance as it commemorates the 20th anniversary of the dramatic 2006 European Cup final between the two sides, a cherished memory for supporters.

Two weeks later, on Friday, September 5th, Munster will travel to Kingsholm to face Gloucester Rugby at 7.30 pm. The match represents Munster’s first high-level engagement against English Premiership opposition under McMillan, providing an early gauge of the squad’s readiness.

The final pre-season fixture features the defending Premiership champions, Bath Rugby, on Friday, September 12th at Virgin Media Park in Cork, kicking off at 7 pm.

As an all-Ireland home game, this encounter will offer supporters the first live glimpse of Munster’s new coach, alongside fresh signings and returning stars.

These pre-season fixtures will showcase new additions including JJ Hanrahan, Dan Kelly, and Conor Ryan, along with integrating younger players into McMillan’s game model.

The clash against Bath, especially, will serve as a big test as Munster build cohesion and familiarity under their new coach.
