Munster Rugby have confirmed contract extensions for two pivotal players, prop Stephen Archer and centre Alex Nankivell, bolstering the squad’s depth and experience for upcoming campaigns.
Stephen Archer, Munster’s all-time record appearance holder, has signed an extension to remain with the province until the end of the current season.
Archer, now in his 16th season, showcased his value yet again during Munster’s crucial URC victory against the Emirates Lions, marking his 290th appearance in red.
Debuting in 2009, the 36-year-old prop has been a cornerstone for Munster both on and off the pitch. Archer made 21 appearances last season and has already featured in six games this year.
His consistent performances were vital to Munster’s URC triumph in the 2022/23 season, where he played key roles in the quarter-final, semi-final, and final.
Notably, Archer demonstrated remarkable endurance, playing consecutive 80-minute games against the Stormers and Sharks in the final regular-season rounds.
Munster also secured a two-year contract extension for centre Alex Nankivell, keeping him with the province until at least 2027.
Nankivell joined Munster in the summer of 2023 from the Chiefs and quickly established himself as a critical player.
At 28, the New Zealand-born centre has brought dynamic attacking skills and defensive strength to the squad, making an immediate impact since his arrival.
