Scotland 26-14 Italy, Murrayfield Stadium
Scotland managed to hold off Italy as they finished the Six Nations tournament with a 26-14 win at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday.
The result meant Scotland sealed a third place in the competition after managing three wins from five matches while Italy finished at the bottom once again.
Scotland came into the game without Stuart Hogg and Finn Russell, who were injured but Blair Kinghorn provided a great impact with his hat-trick of tries while Duhan van der Merwe was the other try-scorer.
Tommaso Allan missed an early chance to score but made amends with a penalty goal that came in the 7th minute to provide Italy a lead. The response from Scotland came in the 12th minute as van der Merwe went past Paolo Garbisi to score. The conversion from Kinghorn went wide though.
Italy seized the lead back with a second three-pointer from Allan that came in the 15th minute but their momentum was hampered when Marco Riccioni was sin-binned in the 28th minute following a series of scrum penalties.
Around the half-hour mark, Scotland once again made a strong comeback as Kinghorn collected a dummy from Sione Tuipulotu to burrow his way over. The fly-half also kicked the conversion as the teams completed the opening half with a 12-6 scoreline.
Gregor Townsend's men were the quickest to get off the block in the second half as Kinghorn muscled his way over for his second try to make it 19-6. The gap came down to just five points as Allan latched on to a grubber kick from Garbisi to touchdown. Garbisi missed a conversion but made amends with a penalty of his own in the 65th minute.
The final minute of the game saw Kinghorn complete his hat-trick after collecting an inside pass from van der Merwe as Scotland completed a 26-14 victory.
