Leicester 16-6 Edinburgh, Mattioli Woods Welford Road
Leicester Tigers managed to hold off Edinburgh as they sealed a 16-6 victory in the round of 16 clash of the Heineken Champions Cup at Mattioli Woods Welford Road on Friday.
The result meant the Premiership side will now visit either Leinster or Ulster in the last eight.
Leicester dominated the opening exchanges as Handré Pollard kicked an early fourth minute penalty goal to take them to a lead. Nevertheless, he missed another chance when Leicester were awarded a scrum penalty in the 18th minute.
Edinburgh were desperate to open their account as they gained momentum and launched series of attack in the final 10 minutes before the break but remained scoreless as the opening half came to an end with the score remaining at 3-0.
The Scottish regional side seized into the lead as full-back Emiliano Boffelli kicked two penalties to make it 3-6 before Jasper Wiese showed quick footwork to finish in the corner in the 51st minute and Pollard landed the conversion to make it 10-6.
The Scottish side missed a chance to make it a one-point game in the 55th minute when Boffelli missed the penalty chance. Nevertheless, Pollard with two three-pointers in the 60th and 72nd minutes to ensure the Tigers completed a thrilling 10-point victory.
