Exeter 19-17 Glasgow Warriors, Pool 3, Sandy Park
Henry Slade kicked the decisive conversion as Exeter Chiefs progressed to the Round of 16 of the Investec Champions Cup as they edged out Glasgow Warriors 19-17 at Sandy Park on Saturday.
Glasgow thought they snatched the win in the added minutes but the try from Euan Ferrie was disallowed allowing the Chiefs to complete a thrilling victory.
Exeter started the game with a setback as Greg Fisilau was sin-binned in the 9th minute for a dangerous tackle on fly-half Duncan Weir and George Horne kicked the penalty goal to get Glasgow off the mark.
The Warriors extended their lead around the half hour mark as Kyle Rowe touched down capitalising on a mistake from Ben Hammersley and Weir improved it to make it 0-10.
Just at the stroke of half time, the Chiefs got their first points as Jacques Vermeulen forced himself over and Slade's conversion meant the teams completed the opening half with a 7-10 scoreline.
Glasgow extended their lead to 10 points as lock Scott Cummins broke clear allowing Sione Tuipulotu to dot down and Weir was once again right with the conversion before the Chiefs struck back with tries from Dan Frost and Zack Wimbush. Slade missed the first conversion but ensured there was no mistake in the second try as the Chiefs completed a thrilling victory.
