Leicester Tigers centre Manu Tuilagi is unlikely to feature in England's upcoming tour of South Africa following his latest injury setback.

The 26-year-old featured in just 12 minutes during the recently concluded Aviva Premiership clash between Leicester Tigers and Wasps before he sustained a chest injury and was replaced by Mathew Tait during the Welford Road encounter.

According to a report from Sportsmail, it is understood that Tuilagi suffered a strain and not a tear and is certain to miss Leicester's next two Aviva Premiership games against Bath and Northampton Saints.

With England set to visit South Africa in June for a three-game Test series, the best scenario for Tuilagi will be to feature in the Round 21 clash against Newcastle Falcons in the last week of April and the final round encounter against Sale Sharks but is it learnt that the Samoa born centre is unlikely to be fast-tracked into the national squad.

Since June 2014, Tuilagi has featured in just one Test for England that came against Wales in March 2016 - his only game under Eddie Jones as his career has been marred by series of injuries and with the 2019 World Cup around the corner, he cannot afford another setback.
