England international Manu Tuilagi has been cited for a dangerous tackle following Leicester Tigers' recently concluded European Champions Cup clash against Munster at Welford Road.
The 26-year-old will appear before a disciplinary panel on Wednesday and if proved guilty he will face a minimum suspension of two weeks for low-entry sanction.
The game on Sunday was Tuilagi's first appearance since he suffered a knee injury in the opening round of the season and the timing of his citing for an alleged dangerous tackle on Chris Cloete could not have come at a worse time.
Apart from Tuilagi, Leinster prop Cian Healy and Exeter Chiefs lock Mitch Lees have also been charged following the Champions Cup weekend.
Healy was sin-binned for charging into the ruck and striking the head of Luke Cowan-Dickie with his forearm while Lees has been cited for a similar challenge using his head rather than forearm.
