London Irish have confirmed the signing of loosehead prop Facundo Gigena with immediate effect.

Gigena was part of Leicester Tigers since 2018 but was released from the club recently after making 45 appearances for them including 25 in the Premiership.

Prior to his association with Leicester Tigers, the 26-year-old was part of Super Rugby club Jaguares in 2016.

“I am happy to be here and really looking forward to my time with London Irish," he told the official website of the club.

“When the opportunity arose to join the club, I jumped at it – and I can’t wait to get started now.

“The club has made a positive start to the season and I am keen to play my part in helping the boys continue to improve and push on.”

London Irish director of rugby Declan Kidney welcomed Gigena's addition to the club.

“We're pleased to welcome Facundo to the club," he said.

“He arrives with a strong pedigree of performing in the Premiership for the last three years and will add to our pack.”

London Irish currently are at sixth place in the table with three wins from eight matches and will face Exeter Chiefs next on 13th February.
