New Zealand Rugby has reported that the All Blacks room where the team meetings were held ahead of the opening game of the Rugby Championship against Australia had a listening device in it.

The report from the All Blacks came prior to the game which they won convincingly by 42-8 to retain the Bledisloe Cup. A report from BBC revealed that New South Wales Police confirmed the allegation and visited the hotel in Double Bay.

New Zealand Rugby chief executive Steve Tew confirmed the complaint made by the board.

"We are taking this issue very seriously, and given it will be a police matter, it would not be prudent to go into further details."

Reacting to the issue, Bill Pulver of the Australian Rugby Union said the board or the team had no involvement in the matter.

"Of course not," he said. "I just think it's a ludicrous concept that there are listening devices being placed in team rooms. I don't know how that could happen."
