Leicester Tigers 20-13 Exeter Chiefs, Welford Road
Scorecard

George Ford contributed with 10 points while Jonny May and Nick Malouf scored tries as Leicester Tigers defeated Exeter Chiefs 20-13 in their Aviva Premiership clash at Welford Road on Saturday.

This is Leicester Tigers' third win of the season that takes them to the fifth position in the table while the defending champions Exeter Chiefs slip to fourth.

Gareth Steenson kicked a fourth minute penalty to begin the proceedings for the visitors but a sin-bin to Julian Salvi in the 22nd minute saw Exeter Chiefs lose grip in the game. Malouf capitalised on the advantage as he went past the line in the 24th minute while Ford slotted a conversion and a drop goal to give Leicester Tigers a seven point lead.

Ford pressed on the advantage with his first penalty after the restart as Leicester Tigers increased the lead to 10 points but a deliberate knock-on from Telusa Veainu saw the full-back yellow carded in the 56th minute with a penalty try being awarded to Exeter Chiefs as well.

By the end of the third quarter, Leicester Tigers had a 13-10 lead but Jonny May's touchdown in the 66th minute and Ford's conversion saw the home side stretch their lead to 10 points.

Even though Steenson kicked a last minute penalty, Exeter Chiefs succumbed to a seven point defeat - their second this season from five games.
