Bordeaux Bègles prop Jefferson Poirot has been suspended for two weeks following an on-field altercation with Northampton Saints flanker Henry Pollock after the conclusion of the Investec Champions Cup final on May 24, 2025.
The incident took place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, shortly after Bordeaux secured their historic 28–20 win to claim their first-ever Champions Cup title.
Poirot was cited under Law 9.27, which deals with actions against the spirit of good sportsmanship. The disciplinary panel reviewed the footage and determined that the veteran front-rower had grabbed Pollock by the throat in a manner deemed dangerous.
The offense warranted a four-week ban, but it was halved to two weeks due to Poirot's immediate admission of guilt and clean disciplinary record.
As a result of the suspension, Poirot will miss Bordeaux's final two matches in the Top 14 regular season against Toulon and Vannes.
His absence comes at a critical point in the domestic campaign as Bordeaux aims to consolidate its top-four finish and enter the playoffs in strong form. The suspension, however, does not extend to the playoff rounds, meaning Poirot will be eligible for selection once the knockout stages begin.
As Bordeaux refocuses on their domestic campaign, the team is expected to close ranks and rally in Poirot’s absence while striving to continue their momentum toward a potential double triumph in both European and domestic competitions.
