Champions Cup Player Of The Year final five confirmed

The final five nominees for the 2026 Investec Player of the Year award have been confirmed, recognising the standout performers from this season's Champions Cup.

The shortlist highlights players who have delivered major performances throughout the tournament, from the pool stage to the knockout rounds, with fans now set to decide the winner.

The five shortlisted players are Louis Bielle-Biarrey, Matthieu Jalibert, Finn Russell, Alfie Barbeary and Caelan Doris. Union Bordeaux Bègles and Bath Rugby each have two players on the list, while Leinster are represented by their captain Doris.

The award celebrates players who have made the biggest impact in Europe’s top club competition, with the final decision now going to supporters through a public vote.

Bordeaux winger Bielle-Biarrey has earned recognition after emerging as one of the leading try-scorers in the competition, while fly-half Jalibert has been rewarded for his influence in attack and tactical control.

Bath’s Russell is also among the nominees after leading the tournament’s points tally, underlining his importance to the English club’s campaign.

Bath forward Barbeary has also made the shortlist following a series of powerful displays. His ball-carrying and physical presence have made him one of the most effective forwards in this year’s tournament.

Caelan Doris In Running For Top Award

Leinster captain Doris completes the shortlist after playing a central role in his side’s strong European run. His leadership, consistency and influence in the forward pack have made him one of the most reliable performers in the competition.

Voting is now open and will remain live until 23 May at 15:30 UK and Irish time. The winner will be announced after the Investec Champions Cup Final at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao.
