Newcastle Falcons have announced that scrum-half James Elliott will make a return to the club ahead for the 2023/24 season.

Elliott came through the Falcons' academy and went on to represent Yorkshire Carnegie before joining Jersey Reds. With the Championship winners of the previous season Jersey Reds announcing that they have ceased trading earlier in the month, the 25-year-old has headed to Falcons until the end of the 2023/24 season.

"I'm grateful to be back with Newcastle Falcons and I'm keen to get amongst it," he told the club's official website.

"I've played a lot, which has been important, and I understand men's rugby now.

"The Championship is an attritional league where it's more pressure and outcome-based, and as a scrum-half having to manage that territory and momentum side of things has been big for me.

"Dictating where we play and how we play has been the biggest difference compared to when I was last at the Falcons as a 19-year-old, where you just want to run everything. It's just that natural maturing process that you go through as a player."
