Ireland have claimed the top position in the World Rugby Rankings following South Africa's defeat to Argentina in the fifth round of the Rugby Championship.
The World Champions came into the weekend following four consecutive wins in the competition but were stunned by the Pumas with Mateo Carreras, Pablo Matera, Joel Sclavi and Tomas Albornoz scoring tries to steer Argentina to thrilling 29-28 victory.
This was also Argentina's third win in the competition following their victories over All Blacks and the Wallabies in the earlier rounds as they moved to the second place in the table with 14 points.
The defeat saw South Africa lose 1.81 rating points that saw them slip to the second position in the table with 91.77 points with Ireland moving to the top with a lead of 0.35 points.
The win has seen Argentina club to sixth place in the table with 84.30 points. They now trail fifth placed England by just 1.20 points.
Earlier, New Zealand's 31-28 win over Australia in Sydney helped them retain the Bledisloe Cup. The win saw the All Blacks gain 0.45 rating points as they continue to remain at third while the Wallabies now slip to the 10th place allowing Fiji who defeated Japan to win the Pacific Nations Cup climb to ninth place.
