Ireland winger Jacob Stockdale will miss their upcoming Test against Portugal after suffering a shoulder injury late in their 34–5 win over Georgia in Tbilisi. The Ulster star has returned to Ireland for further assessment and possible treatment.

Jacob Stockdale, who left the Georgian match with a shoulder brace, has been officially withdrawn from the squad. Irish Rugby confirmed:

“Jacob Stockdale (AC) has been ruled out of the Portugal fixture and has returned to Ireland to see a specialist next week.”

Reports indicate the winger sustained an injury to his acromioclavicular (AC) joint during the match. He departed the field in a sling and is now awaiting diagnostic scans to determine the severity.

“He left the stadium in a sling and will undergo a scan,” noted a coach following the game.

With Stockdale unavailable, the Ireland management has brought in Scott Wilson as cover. This reshuffle comes ahead of Saturday’s fixture in Lisbon, giving other backs a chance to stake their claim.

Cian Prendergast, who missed the Georgia game due to illness, is now fit and available.
