Ireland have recalled Ulster scrum-half John Cooney to the squad ahead of the final round of the Six Nations tournament against France to be played in Paris on Saturday.
The decision follows after Jamison Gibson-Park is doubtful for the encounter following a hamstring injury that he suffered during the game against Italy at Aviva Stadium last weekend.
Gibson-Park provided cover to Conor Murray in the game against Italy and came off the bench in the 68th minute to win his first cap for Ireland.
Cooney has played 11 Tests for Ireland since his international debut in 2017 and was part of the Six Nations squad earlier in the year.
Meanwhile, Ireland Rugby Football Union had earlier confirmed that Garry Ringrose will be sidelined for six weeks following a broken jaw.
Ireland are currently at the top of the Six Nations table with 14 points and following the game against France, they will kick-off the Autumn Nations Cup campaign on 13th November.
