Australia duo Nick Frost and Carter Gordon will miss the remainder of Rugby World Cup campaign due to injuries.
The Wallabies are at second place in Pool C with 11 points but for them to qualify they will need Portugal to secure a win over Fiji in their final game of the stage at Stadium de Toulouse on 8th October.
Frost suffered a knee joint injury during Australia's previous game against Portugal while Gordon picked up a knee cartilage injury during a training session. Both the players will be heading back to Australia to undergo rehabilitation.
Australia coach Eddie Jones expressed disappointment over the news and wished the duo a speedy recovery.
“We’re disappointed for Nick and Carter that their seasons have ended through injury," said Jones.
“Nick showed great courage to play through significant discomfort against Portugal, while Carter has earned valuable experience during his first year as a Test player.
“We wish both of them a quick and successful recovery and to watching them continue to improve during Super Rugby Pacific next year.”
