Waratahs have re-signed forward Hugh Sinclair for the 2022 Super Rugby season.

Sinclair has played over 100 times for Northern Suburbs helping them to a Premiership title in 2016 and had a brief stint with Melbourne Rebels playing seven games for them before joining Waratahs in 2019.

The 28-year-old was also appointed the club captain early in the 2021 season.

“I love playing for the Waratahs, it’s a team I have always supported growing up, and to be named Club Captain this season was a real privilege,” Sinclair told the club's official website.

“I’m thankful that the organisation has faith in me and wants to keep me here for a further season and I want to return the favour, and help the Waratahs improve in 2022".

The club endured a tough 2021 season that saw them finish last in both the Super Rugby AU and Super Rugby Trans Tasman as they lost all the 13 matches and Sinclair is desperate for a turnaround in the 2022 season.

“I felt like I couldn’t leave on a note like we did this season, it’s been a tough year for everyone, but I think we’re set for some big changes and good results in 2022.

“We’ve got a young group that will only be better for their experiences this season, and with the addition of Darren Coleman as Head Coach and a couple of veterans returning, the side is pretty well placed for next season.”
