Leinster have confirmed that Robbie Henshaw is fit and available for selection ahead of Saturday’s Investec Champions Cup clash with La Rochelle at the Aviva Stadium.

The centre has recovered from a finger injury sustained during Leinster’s United Rugby Championship win over Munster on December 27 and has been given the all-clear following assessment by the medical team.

Henshaw’s return comes at a key stage in Leinster’s European campaign as they prepare for the Pool 3 encounter against the French side coached by Ronan O’Gara.

Lock RG Snyman and centre Garry Ringrose have both returned to training after recent injury layoffs and are in contention to feature. Snyman has been recovering from a shoulder issue, while Ringrose has been managing cramp-related problems.

Both players last appeared in Leinster colours in early December against Harlequins.

Assistant coach Robin McBryde confirmed that the pair have rejoined on-field sessions but stressed that their availability will depend on how they respond in training over the coming days.

Out-half Harry Byrne and prop Rabah Slimani are also being assessed after both were late withdrawals from Leinster’s matchday squad prior to last weekend’s 52-17 URC victory over Connacht. Byrne has been dealing with a calf issue, while Slimani was also ruled out late.

Final decisions on the availability of all players will be made closer to the weekend as Leinster aim to assemble their strongest possible squad for the European fixture.
