Harlequins have announced that prop Simon Kerrod has signed a new deal until the end of 2023/24 season.

Kerrod made his Harlequins in 2019 and has 88 appearances for them including 14 that came this season. He was called up to England's training squad in 2020 but is yet to make his debut at the international level.

Born in South Africa, the 30-year-old made his club debut for provincial side Sharks in 2013 and also had represented Eastern Province Kings, Jersey Reds and Worcester Warriors in the past.

“I am loving my time at Harlequins. It is a special environment with a great bunch of people who genuinely care for each other. It’s the best team culture I’ve been part of because it’s genuine and comes from within the group," he told the club's official website.

“My family and I are looking forward to the next few years at Quins and bringing some more silverware to The Stoop.”

Harlequins Scrum and Transition Coach Adam Jones lavished praises on Kerrod and his contribution to the club.

“Simon has proven himself as a top-class prop and remains an integral part of our front row contingent. He’s brought great experience to the group over the last few years and has proved himself as a highly effective scrummager on either side of the scrum.

“We’re thrilled to have him recommit to Quins and look forward to continuing to work with him.”

Harlequins are at third place in the Gallagher Premiership table with six wins from 12 matches.
