Bath winger Anthony Watson is a doubtful starter for the Six Nations 2017 tournament after sustaining a hamstring strain.

The 22-year-old picked up the injury during the recently concluded training camp in Portugal and will now undergo scans to find out the extent of damage.

The news was confirmed by a statement released by Rugby Football Union on Friday.

"Anthony Watson, Bath Rugby, will go for a scan tomorrow, Saturday January 28, following a hamstring strain sustained in training at England's training camp in Vilamoura, Portugal," read the statement.

Watson's possible absence might see Eddie Jones opting for Jonny May while Jack Nowell and Marland Yarde might compete for the other wing role.

Earlier, Watson also missed the autumn internationals for England due to a broken jaw.

England will kick-start their Six Nations title defence against France at Twickenham on 4th February following which they will lock horns with Wales, Italy, Scotland and Ireland.
