Hire A Hero Gorillas Haydn Richards and Ashton Bailey completed challenge nine of the 12 in 12 last month, when they successfully finished the 'Coast To Coast' cycle ride.

This was the first time they had taken to the saddle during the year-long fundraising effort to raise money for the military charity.

"It was a great success, apart from the torrential rain which followed us from the moment we left Whitehaven!" explained Haydn.

"It was a lot harder than I expected it to be," he confessed after completing the cross-country cycle, which the pair completed in 22 hours.

The ride included a cumulative ascent of 11,791 feet and the dedicated team of fundraisers put in a stunning effort to complete the ride in less than a day.

They were joined by seven more cyclists, who became honorary Gorillas for the day, as part of the 141-mile journey from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Tynemouth in Tyne & Wear.

"It was a fantastic effort by all of the team, given that no one really does any biking at all," Haydn added.

Next on the agenda, the Gorillas take to the field on 9th August as part of the Lost XV Commemoration Game at Stratford upon Avon RFC.
