Argentina forward Mariano Galarza will have to wait to make his Gloucester debut after undergoing shoulder surgery, the club has confirmed.

The 27-year-old was injured during Argentina's historic Rugby Championship win over Australia in Mendonza earlier this month.

He joined up with his new club-mates this week before undergoing an operation on Wednesday.

"The operation was successful, and Mariano will now follow an intensive rehabilitation programme which will enable him to return to full fitness as soon as possible," a club statement confirmed.

Lock Galarza, who has previously played for Leinster and Worcester Warriors, has earned 24 caps for his country.
