Glasgow Warriors have confirmed five players including Sam Johnson will be leaving the club at the end of the ongoing campaign.

The news follows after the club confirmed last month that former captain Ryan Wilson also leaving them ending a 13-year association.

Johnson made his Glasgow debut in 2015 after being part of Queensland Reds and has made 104 appearances for them since then. The 29-year-old was jointly voted as Players’ Player of the Season after an outstanding 2017/18 campaign and was part of the squad that reached the Pro14 final in 2019.

Apart from Johnson, second row Lewis Bean, wing Cole Forbes, prop Simon Berghan and flanker Cameron Neil also will be leaving the club at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.

“Thank you to Ryan, Sam, Lewis, Cole, Simon and Cameron for their contributions to the club this season," said Glasgow head coach Franco Smith.

"I am grateful for their hard work, and wish them all the very best in their new challenges. After a season like this it is difficult to say goodbye to players that bought in and contributed the way they did.

"They have all played a valuable part in helping us to reach the league quarter-finals, and will keep doing so as we continue preparations for our first ever European final. I sincerely thank these players for their commitment to the Glasgow Warriors team and the club’s values.”
