Glasgow Warriors have handed BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy members Scott Cummings, Nick Grigg and James Malcolm their first professional contracts as well as signing Canadian international Djustice Sears-Duru on a short-term deal.

Scotland Under-20 captain and second row forward Cummings has signed a three-year contract, hooker Malcolm has a two-year deal and centre Grigg a one-year contract.

Glasow-born Cummings has already scored one try in nine Warriors appearances and also dotted down for Scotland U20s against England earlier this year.

He also plays for Glasgow Hawks in the BT Premiership and is delighted with his new contract.

"I was thrilled when I found out Glasgow wanted to sign me on a professional deal," he said.

"The fact it's a three-year deal is a big honour because it means I can commit my future to the club and play here for many years to come."

Like Cummings, Malcolm was born in Glasgow and is 21 years old. He has made 11 appearances this season and scored a try on debut against Scarlets in the Champions Cup.

Grigg moved to the academy from Petone in New Zealand, making his Warriors debut as a substitute in their 12-6 win over Leinster earlier this month. The 23-year-old has already featured for Scotland Sevens and Stirling County.

Warriors coach Gregor Townsend said: "Scott played very well in the early part of the season and really grabbed his opportunity to play at a higher level.

"James has also stepped up this season and played well in a number of games for us. He has an excellent attitude and will work hard to continue to improve as a full-time professional.

"Nick has had a great season with Stirling and made real progress on the physical and skill elements of his game."

Meanwhile, loosehead prop Sears-Duru will join Glasgow until the end of the season. The 21-year-old played in all four of Canada's World Cup games and has 16 caps in all.

"We're delighted to welcome Djustice to the club and we look forward to working with him," Townsend said.

"We came up against him in our pre-season fixture over in Canada and he impressed us that day with his raw strength and physicality.

"He is young, keen to learn and will be a great addition to our squad as we enter the final weeks of the season."
