Glasgow 13-7 Sale Sharks, Scotstoun Stadium
Scorecard

Glasgow Warriors overcome a late charge from Sale Sharks as they kick-started their European Champions Cup campaign with a 13-7 win over Sale Sharks at Scotstoun Stadium.

The Scottish side dominated the opening exchange and eventually got their first points on board with a penalty kick from Adam Hastings. The fly-half doubled their tally in the 27th minute when the fly-half kicked another three-pointer.

The opening try in the game came in the 36th minute when DTH van der Merwe crossed over while a conversion from Hastings made the scoreline 13-0 in the first half.

In a desperate move, Sale brought Chris Ashton from the bench around the hour mark. The visitors finally managed a breakthrough at the start of the final quarter when Tommy Seymour lost possession allowing Coenie Oosthuizen to crossover.

Aj MacGinty's conversion brought down the gap between the two teams to six points but unfortunately for Steve Diamond's men they could not find any more success with Glasgow's firm defence proving enough as they started the tournament with a 13-7 victory.
