Edinburgh will miss the services of lock Fraser McKenzie after he was handed a two-week ban for performing a shoulder charge on Munster flanker Jack O'Donoghue last week.

The 28-year-old was sin-binned during the 12th minute of the game while O'Donoghue was carried off the field on a stretcher.

McKenzie, who played for Scotland A three times appeared before the Pro12 disciplinary panel on Friday in Cardiff following which he was sanctioned the two-week ban.

A statement released by Pro12 confirmed the ban on Mckenzie.

"Although the disciplinary committee deemed that the player had not acted deliberately, his actions were judged to be reckless.

"It was deemed that the player's act of foul play was a lower end offence which has a sanction entry point of two weeks. The player will be free to play from October 10, 2016."

The ban means that McKenzie will miss Edinburgh's next two Pro12 clashes against defending champions Connacht and Treviso.
