Interim coach of Edinburgh, Duncan Hodge has urged his team to move on from Alan Solomons' resignation as they gear up to take on the Pro12 champions Connacht on Friday.

Solomons decided to quit from his post of head coach after Edinburgh lost three out of the four games in this season and are placed ninth in the table. Hodge, who will take over as the head coach for the first time on Friday admitted that his side cannot afford any more defeats.

"It's been a challenging week for all involved but we've got a massive game we need to win on Friday night. In the short term our focus has got to be on tomorrow's match.

"We've got some fresh faces coming in from last week who will lift the team and give us a fresh energy for the game."

The 42-year-old has ring in the changes for the all-important clash recalling four Scotland internationals - Ross Ford, WP Nel, Grant Gilchrist and John Hardie. Scrum-half Sean Kennedy will make his first start in the season while Duncan Weir, who is sidelined with a broken jaw will make way for Jason Tovey.

Describing Connacht as a tough opponent especially at home, Hodge is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

"Connacht have talismanic players among them and they're always a tough team to play, especially at home.

"They'll be physical, but we know what to expect. We have prepared well this week and can't wait to embrace the challenge, start to change our performances and get results for the club."
