Bath back-row Francois Louw has rejoined South Africa squad for the final round of the Rugby Championship clash against New Zealand to be played in Pretoria on Saturday.

The 33-year-old returned to club duties after playing in the first four games for the Springboks and as a result missed the fifth round clash against Australia which they went on to win 23-12 in Port Elizabeth.

Louw has been drafted in as a cover for Warren Whiteley, who missed the game against the Wallabies due to groin injury and is a doubtful starter for next weekend's clash against the World Champions.

South Africa assistant coach Matt Proudfoot said a decision on Whiteley will be taken on Tuesday.

"Warren has still got some rehab work to do. We will give him some more time to do some very specific recovery work," said Proudfoot.

"By Tuesday, we should know whether he will be available for the game or not".

Meanwhile, Damian de Allende, who missed the previous game due to shoulder injury might return for the game against New Zealand.

South Africa will be hoping to end the Rugby Championship campaign on a high after having already sealed the second place with three wins from five games.
