France head coach Fabien Galthie said skipper Antoine Dupont will be undergoing further tests following his latest injury setback.

Dupont, who had an impressive outing against Namibia and was one of the try-scorer in their 96-0 dominating victory was forced to leave the field in the 46th minute after he was tackled dangerously by Namibia captain Johan Deysel.

Deysel was initially sin-binned and was later upgraded to a red card following a review but Dupont walked from the field with an icepack on his cheek adding to the concerns of the home side.

There was also criticism about Galthie's decision to keep him on the field after half-time despite France having a lead of 54-0.

"There's a suspicion of a crack or fracture in his jaw. He's gone for tests," said Galthie.

"We'll wait for the results before moving forward. We need to take advantage of this great victory and the players' fine performance."

France general team manager Raphael Ibanez also felt disappointment for Dupont, who was named the the world player of the year in 2021 and the Six Nations player of the tournament in 2022 and 2023.

"We feel sorry for Antoine. It just reminds us how dangerous head-to-head contact can be," he told ITV.

France currently are the top of Pool A with three wins from as many games and will be facing Italy in their final group stage game in Lyon on 6th October.
