Montpellier have announced the signing of Fijian wing Masivesi Dakuwaqa ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The 27-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the French club and will link with them during the summer.

Dakuwaqa established himself in the sevens format and was selected to represent Fiji Sevens side in 2015 by Ben Ryan and went on to make his debut during the USA 7s in 2016.

He was also part of the Gold medal winning Fiji 7s side during the 2016 Rio Olympics and recently was part of Toulon with his contract with them expiring at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Montpellier head coach Philippe Saint-Andre is delighted to have the services of Dakuwaqa.

“He is a very atypical player capable of covering up to five positions," he told.

"His versatility will therefore be a major bonus”.

Montpellier had a successful European Challenge Cup campaign as they defeated Leicester Tigers 18-17 in the final but finished 10th in the Top 14 after managing 10 wins from 26 games.
