Exeter Chiefs second-row Christ Tshiunza is expected to miss up to 12 weeks after scans confirmed a broken bone in his foot.
The injury occurred during Exeter’s 33-33 draw with Northampton on Sunday, and marks the second time he has suffered the same injury.
At 23, Tshiunza will miss Wales’ Autumn series, including Tests against Argentina, New Zealand, Japan, and South Africa in November. Exeter also say he will be unavailable for their upcoming Premiership matches.
The club’s director of rugby, Rob Baxter, stated that further assessment showed the injury can heal naturally and will not require surgical intervention.
Earlier in his career, Tshiunza suffered a similar foot break after returning from the 2023 Rugby World Cup, which kept him out for several months.
"Christ came off at half-time last weekend in some pain and on further investigation this week, it has been found that he has broken his foot," Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter said.
"Following further assessment, the decision has been made that the injury will be able to heal by itself over time and not require surgery."
