London Irish have secured the signing of England Sevens star Dan Norton on a short-term deal.

Norton is the leading all-time try scorer in rugby sevens history with over 350 tries and also enjoyed silver medal with GB Sevens in the Rio Olympics in 2016 and a gold medal with England 7s in 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The 32-year-old helped England U20s to a Six Nations Grand Slam title in 2008 and has represented Gloucester, Bristol Bears, and Hartpury College. He also played a solitary Premiership game for Gloucester in 2008.

“I am really looking forward to getting started with London Irish and for the opportunity to go back to the format I played at grassroots level," said Norton to the official website of the club.

“Hopefully my experience on the 7s circuit can translate onto the pitch with Irish and I can help the club wherever I can".

London Irish director of rugby Declan Kidney is delighted with Norton's signing and is looking forward to see him perform for the Exiles.

“Dan has had a fantastic career with England 7s and we are excited to see what he can do in the XV game environment," he said.

“Hopefully Dan can bring his experience from over the years and have a good impact on the squad.”
