Edinburgh coach Duncan Hodge has strengthened his front-row with the addition of Argentina international Felipe Arregui, who has signed a short-term contract with the Pro 12 club.

The 22-year-old will remain with Edinburgh until the end of January and will be joining from Super Rugby franchise Jaguares. He is in contention to make his debut for the club this weekend when Hodge's men lock horns with Harlequins at Murrayfield Stadium for their European Challenge Cup encounter.

Arregui's solitary appearance for Argentina came in the recent Rugby Championship tournament against the Springboks, which his team went on to win 26-24. He has also represented Argentina Under-20 and Under-19 teams previously.

Hodge said: "At only 22 years old, he has an impressive CV for a prop and we're excited to see what he can offer in an Edinburgh Rugby shirt. He's shown a real enthusiasm and energy in training which we're sure will transfer on to the park."

Hodge also hopes to build on from the momentum they gained from winning their previous two games spread across two different competitions.

"There's been a good buzz around the squad in the build-up to this game and we're excited about getting back out in front of our home fans and putting in a positive performance.

"We've had two good wins in recent weeks but we're going to have to raise our game once again to compete against a quality Harlequins outfit.

"This game will be a real measure of where we're at as a team but it's a challenge we're looking to absorb and take in our stride."
