Edinburgh returned back to winning ways in the ongoing European Rugby Challenge Cup as they edged out Wasps 31-20 at Murrayfield Stadium on Friday.

This is Edinburgh's second win from three games as they are positioned second in Pool 3 behind Bordeaux while Wasps are at third place after losing their second game.

Lima Sopoaga started the proceedings with a 17th-minute penalty goal for Wasps but Edinburgh responded back strong with a touchdown from Duhan van der Merwe in the 26th minute. Simon Hickey also kicked the conversion to make the scoreline 7-3.

As the half-time was approaching, Hickey and Sopoaga traded penalties as the teams headed into the break with a 10-6 scoreline.

The Scottish side made a terrific start to the second half with back to back tries from Blair Kinghorn (44') and van der Merwe (50') and with Hickey adding extras on both the occasions to make it 24-6.

Jack Willis with his 55th minute try kept Wasps in contention with a 55th minute try but their momentum was hampered by a sin-bin to Kieran Brookes in the 60th minute. As the final 10 minutes kicked-off George Taylor and Nizaam Carr traded tries allowing Richard Cockerill's men to complete a nine point win.
