Edinburgh have confirmed that Calum MacRae and Matt Cornwell will join the backroom staff ahead of the next season.

MacRae is currently the head coach of Scotland Sevens team and also has the experience of coaching Newcastle Falcons previously. He will be replacing Richard Wilkins as the new defence coach of the side under incoming head coach Richard Cockerill.

Former fullback Cornwell will join the Scotland regional side as head of operations after previously working in Leicester Tigers under Cockerill as team manager. Meanwhile, interim head coach Duncan Hodge will revert back to the role of attack coach as confirmed by Scottish Rugby Union (SRU).

SRU chief executive Mark Dodson is hopeful that the new set-up will help the revival of Edinburgh.

"I am committed to creating success at Edinburgh Rugby and the results, especially in the Guinness PRO12, this season have fallen well short of what we expect.

"We are acting quickly to create a different set-up and environment at the club following Richard Cockerill's appointment.

"Duncan conducted himself incredibly well during a difficult season and his skills in developing Edinburgh's attack will play a key role next season, and by bringing in Calum we are investing in a young, talented coach with a growing reputation."
