Dragons 21 - 8 Connacht, Newport

A dominant first half performance from Dragons saw them overcome Connacht with a 21-8 victory in their Pro 14 clash in Newport on Friday.

This was also Dragons' first win of the season and they are placed sixth in Conference B while Connacht are at third in Conference A.

It took Dragons just one minute to get off the mark as Hallam Amos crossed over but five minutes later Connacht bounced back with a penalty from Jack Carty. The Dragons further stepped up the ante as Elliott Dee went past the line in the 18th minute while Gavin Henson slotted a conversion and a penalty to take them to a 12 point lead.

Connacht were further hampered by a sin-bin to James Cannon in the 26th minute which Henson capitalised with back to back penalties as the home side went into half time with a 21-3 lead.

The second half was equally competed and after 12 minutes of restart lock Quinn Roux danced past the post to reduce the gap down to 11 points but Dragons did well to hold onto it as they opened their account this season.
