Northampton Saints are set to announce the news on Chris Boyd stepping down from his role as director of rugby when his contract expires this summer.

The 63-year-old joined Northampton Saints in 2018 and on his maiden season with the club he guided them to a top four finish apart from steering them to a Premiership Rugby Cup triumph in 2019.

Northampton are positioned fifth in the Gallagher Premiership table in the ongoing season with seven wins from 12 games but have suffered back to back defeats in the Heineken Champions Cup in the opening two rounds.

According to reports, Boyd is expected to return to New Zealand at the end of the season but is expected to be involved with the club on a consultancy role.

Northampton Saints will facing Ulster Rugby in the third round of the Heineken Champions Cup on 16th January at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens on 16th January.
