The Cheetahs have officially signed loosehead prop Tielman Nieuwoudt, bolstering their front row ahead of the 2025 Currie Cup season.

A product of Grey College in Bloemfontein, Nieuwoudt brings physicality and promise to the squad, adding to the team’s efforts to reinforce their scrum depth.

Nieuwoudt has been part of the Bulls setup since 2022, gaining valuable experience in domestic competitions. He is expected to join the Cheetahs in July, returning to his hometown roots and providing a fresh option in the pack.

Alongside this new addition, the Cheetahs also confirmed a contract extension for hooker Vernon Paulo, who will remain with the team for another two years.

Paulo has featured consistently for the side across multiple tournaments, including the Currie Cup, SA Cup, Cheetahs Challenge Series, and the EPCR Challenge Cup, clocking in 27 appearances to date.

These latest squad developments reflect the franchise’s proactive approach to solidifying their forward pack.

With Nieuwoudt's power and Paulo's reliability, the Cheetahs are strategically positioning themselves for a competitive run in the upcoming domestic season.
