England coach Eddie Jones has warned his team of the potential challenge ahead during the autumn internationals following the announcement of the 45-man provisional elite player squad.

Jones has recalled Leicester hooker Tom Youngs and Gloucester wing Jonny May while the Fiji born Nathan Hughes has also been included. However, Danny Cipriani, Luther Burrell and Chris Ashton have been omitted from the pre-season training squad.

England are scheduled to play South Africa, Fiji, Argentina and Australia during their autumn internationals as Jones wants the red rose team to continue the momentum built from the Six Nations and Australian series triumph.

The 56-year-old insisted his players to continue to develop their skills and also warned them against any complacency from the success England had in this year.

"While we acknowledge that we're moving in the right direction, we also recognise that defeat is never far away," Jones said.

"It's important the players all keep trying to improve and push themselves to reach new standards in their game. We cannot afford to have any complacency in our approach to this Test."

England's next international assignment will be against the Springboks on 12th November at Twickenham. In the 37 games played between the two teams, England have won just 12 and have failed to register a victory against South Africa in their last five encounters at Twickenham.

"Our next game presents us with a huge challenge. England have not beaten South Africa since 2006 and we've lost our last five games against the Springboks at Twickenham," Jones said

"Not a single player who will attend the pre-season camp has played in a side that has ever beaten South Africa."

The final 45-man Elite Player Squad will be announced by Jones on 30th September.
