Australia international Dane Haylett-Petty is likely to remain on the sidelines for the next three months following a surgery on his bicep.

The 28-year-old missed the opening game of the Rugby Championship against All Blacks because of the injury but returned back to the second game against the same opposition in Dunedin before he was replaced in the 62nd minute.

Haylett-Petty was in line to feature for the game against South Africa on Saturday but now will have to undergo a lengthy rehabilitation period.

"Best wishes to Dane Haylett-Petty who underwent bicep surgery today. Wishing you a speedy recovery mate!" tweeted Western Force - the club Haylett-Petty was part of since 2014.

The fullback has represented Australia 18 times in two years and has scored four tries in it.

Australia will host South Africa at NIB Stadium on Saturday in Round 3 following which they will take on Argentina at GIO Stadium on 16th September.
