Gloucester Rugby have announced that Argentina international Santiago Carreras has signed a contract extension with the Gallagher Premiership club.

Carreras joined Gloucester in 2020 after being part of Jaguares in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He has gone on to make 32 appearances for the Cherry and Whites contributing 30 points.

The 24-year-old has also been capped 15 times for Argentina after making his international debut in August 2019. He also featured for them in four games during the 2019 World Cup.

“Santi is an extremely brave rugby player who always puts his body on the line," said head coach George Skvington.

“He is a real talent and is able to do things on the rugby pitch that you can’t teach. He is a gifted rugby player and I am delighted to have retained his services.”

Gloucester Rugby’s Chief Operating Officer Alex Brown also expressed his delight in Carreras remaining with the club.

“Santiago Carreras is one of the most exciting players in rugby and it is easy to forget how young he is. Just 24 years old, he is still developing his game and we only expect him to get better.

“We’re delighted that he wants to stay here at Kingsholm.”
